The year of Italy as the unquestionable protagonist of the Olympic Games, soccer championships and music festivals is 2021. These titles will be confirmed by the leadership of the G20. In the year of the Italian Presidency, there will be numerous institutional meetings (working groups, ministerial appointments, Final Summit) and special events. Florence will host the ministers of the major economies that represent 80% of the world’s GDP, 75% of global trade and 60% of the planet’s population. An opportunity to rethink the future that we want to leave to the next generations in a present made of increasingly varied challenges: those posed by COVID-19, those due to climate change, those created by the inequalities that divide the planet in two.

ITA0039, always at the side of the agri-food chain genuinely Made in Italy, will be present at the events organised by Coldiretti, with its own delegation, to give voice to those who care about the protection of our products, which have always been an example of sustainability, tradition, the healthiness of the Italian food and authentic Italian spirit at the table in the world.

The spotlight will be turned on today, September 16th, with the Open Forum on sustainable agriculture. At the centre of the debate will be four themes, and to each one of them will be dedicated a ministerial session: increasing productivity, employment and added value in agro-food systems; improving living conditions and inclusive economic growth; environmental sustainability;  demand for food in Africa.

The busy agenda will involve the whole Italian territory, an opportunity to enhance the extraordinary excellence spread throughout the Country. The international forum, with a specific focus on agribusiness and organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies, will bring together the world’s major economies with their delegates, agricultural entrepreneurs, representatives of agricultural and international organisations.

Numerous issues will be addressed – from biodiversity protection to the G20’s contribution to the upcoming United Nations Summit on the Food System (UNFSS) and COP26. The event will end with a final statement by the G20 Agriculture Ministers, a tangible testimony of the work done and each country’s commitment to the issues discussed during the Italian Presidency.

Italy is increasingly stepping into a leadership role in the world, also thanks to those who make the protection and the authentic “Italian Taste” a banner to be proud of.
